Carboxytherapy

Carboxytherapy (aka CO2 Therapy) is known as a safe, non-invasive cosmetic procedure which can help minimise the appearance of undereye circles, wrinkles and scars. Originally a medical treatment, carboxytherapy has been used since the beginning of the 20th century to treat burn wounds and ulcers. It can assist with the natural process of skin healing. Today, it is becoming a popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure, used to help maintain younger-looking, smoother, firmer and brighter skin. Individual results may vary.

Small doses of carbon dioxide, CO2, are injected into the subcutaneous layers of the skin. The body will then understand this sudden surge in CO2 as a deficiency in oxygen and flood the area with blood. This increase in circulation to the area will help to flush it with oxygen and other nutrients thus assisting with the creation of rejuvenation process. Over time this can result in the heightened production of collagen fibres, blood vessels and skin cells. The additional collagen can have a firming effect on the skin and new blood vessels can result in better circulation, improved lymph drainage and new cell growth.

Fat Reduction

Injecting the CO2 deep into the cell tissue can assist with the break up of fat cells which are then removed via the body’s natural elimination process. Carboxytherapy can help treat hard-to-reach pockets of fat, under the chin or around the hips.

Stretch Marks and Other Scars

Injecting CO2 into the scar tissue can result in the production of collagen, making the scarring less visible. Results could be seen in the case of most stretchmarks, but can best be used to treat new ones. Carboxytherapy can also be used to treat other scars, such as those caused by acne, surgery or burns.

Cellulite

Carboxytherapy can improve skin texture of cellulite-affected areas. It can assist skin with creating more collagen fibre, thus improving skin firmness. The treatment can also increase circulation and lymph drainage which results in smoother, younger-looking skin.

Skin Firming and Rejuvenation

Apart from assisting with an increase in collagen production, carboxytherapy can also help in firming up wrinkles and rejuvenating tired-looking skin. Some of the skin laxity issues carboxytherapy can help treat include:
  • Crows Feet
  • Laugh Lines
  • Frown Lines
  • Double Chin
  • Saggy Jowls
  • Lip Wrinkles

Results can often be visible after the 4th or 5th session, depending on the affected area. However, it can take up to 6 months to notice a significant change. The reason for this is that our bodies take time to lay down the collagen fibres and create a new capillary system in the affected area. Monthly maintenance is essential. Individual results may vary.
