prp platelet rich plasma
This repairing treatment harnesses the body’s own natural healing power to slow and reverse the ageing process by delivering growth factors to the exact location on the patients face where repair and rejuvenation are required. We offer PRP to patients here at Azallis Cosmedics.
+ What can PRP help treat?
PRP therapy is particularly effective when administered around the eyes, nose and mouth, its also effective at targeting scars. The effect is to plump the skin, fill out lines and wrinkles whilst delivering an overall more radiant appearance.
+ How does PRP therapy work?
A small blood sample between 10-20mls is taken from the patient, this is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet plasma. These platelets contain proteins that naturally heal injured tissue and damaged skin. Once we have injected only the platelets, these proteins are released triggering cells to regenerate, repair and create collagen to rejuvenate and increase the volume of the skin
+ How long is the recovery process for PRP?
Typically, it does not take long before PRP patients feel ready to resume their daily lives, preparation, treatment and recovery shouldn’t take more than 2 hours. There will, however, be some swelling and redness in the treated areas, which may take a couple of days to fade.
+ When will I see results?
Results of PRP therapy usually become evident between 2-4 weeks.
+ How long do the results of Platelet Rich Plasma therapy last?
The effects of PRP will usually last up to 18 months.
+ Are there any side-effects of PRP therapy?
As the treatment is done using the patient’s own blood, there are no major side-effects beyond the possibility of temporary burning sensation, bruising/swelling being experienced at the injection sites.
